Birthplace of French cinema and the famous game of petanque, La Ciotat is a little jewel on the Mediterranean coast well worth choosing for a holiday in the South of France. Wander around the old port and enjoy a delicious meal of fresh fish before visiting some of the interesting historical buildings and monuments such as the Hotel de Grimaldi-Regusse dating back to 1603, the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption du XVIIème church, as well as the Eden theâtre dating back to 1889 where the pioneering Lumiere Brothers made some of their first films. Take a boat trip to the Ile Verte island where you will be enchanted by the lush vegetation, stunning beaches and crystal clear waters.
