Castelmoron sur Lot
Castelmoron sur Lot is a pretty little town at the foot of a wooded hillside, on the banks of the river Lot in the popular region of Lot & Garonne in South West France. The town has a beautiful town hall, Moorish style buildings, little squares, a fountain, a château, timbered houses, all set on the banks of the river Lot where you can discover the highest lock in Europe... This is châteaux country (Bonaguil, Duras) including those inhabited by the Albret family and by our good king Henri IV (such as the château Henri IV at Nérac). There are also plenty of museums to visit : monastic life at the "Abbaye des automates" in Clairac, rural life, foie gras, prunes and the water lily gardens. This is also an ideal base for boating activities, irrigated by the three rivers, the Lot, the Garonne and the Baïse. Discover the history of maritime trade and of barges.
