The south-east area of the island, which is called the «Sarrabus», is made up of a stretch of granite mountains, which are part of the «Monts Sette Fratelli» mountain range, crossed by the «Flumendosa», one of the main rivers in Sardinia, where the mountains give way to a huge fertile plain, abounding in citrus fruits and running alongside kilometres of long, sandy beaches, from Costa Rei to Tertenia.

Porto Corallo (Villaputzu) is a small seaside resort in the province of Cagliari on the east coast of Sardinia, half way between the ports of Cagliari and of Arbatax (70 Kms).
It is a small harbour for pleasure boats, built recently between two sandy beaches.
It is a true paradise for nature lovers, for fanatics of all sorts of sailing, and it is highly reputed for the beauty of its sea beds and the quantity of fish to be found there: Porto Corallo is recommended therefore to underwater diving and fishing lovers.

Porto Corallo (Villaputzu) is a little corner of paradise, situated in the province of Cagliari on the east coast of Sardinia, half way between the ports of Cagliari and of Arbatax (70 Kms).
The apartments, surrounded by vegetation, are right on the edge of the sea.

The fine sandy beach of Sa Tramatsu is only about 300 m from the residence, little creeks can be reached at a distance of 50/100 metres.

Accomodation

The accommodation nestles amongst lush green vegetation and is made up of a series of small estates, built close to the edge of the sea

The apartments, which are simple and practical, are situated on the ground floor, with veranda and garden or on the 1st floor with large terrace and balcony.

The small houses, tastefully fitted out, are situated on the ground floor, with veranda or garden. They have a sea-view and are fitted with air-conditioning, satellite TV and a washing machine

The apartments, from the studio apartment for 2 pers to the 3-roomed apartment for 6 pers are fully equipped with a kitchen corner, shower and toilet.

Leisure Card (optional), including:
Group lessons for canoeing, windsurfing, tennis, aerobics, football, aqua gym, Latin-American dancing, beach activities during the day and evening entertainment such as shows, open air musical performances, children’s mini club (6-12 years) in Italian, from 30th May to 4th September from 10am to 12.30pm and from 4pm to 6.30pm
Entertainment for adults (shows, theatre, cabaret, games)
Access to the swimming pool of the resort (between 50 and 500 m from the apartments). Open from mid-May to the end of September, free deck chairs and parasols.

Without the club card, it is possible to have a single access to the swimming pool.

Places to visit

The small Roman church San Nicola, the only Sardinian sanctuary built of brick. Marvellous, fine, sandy beach, 12km long and preserved in its natural state

Muravera is the most important centre in the Sarrabus region, famous for its production of citrus fruits and for its craftsmanship.

Castiadas, a commune with many beaches : S,Pietro-M. Turno, Cala sinzias, Cala Pira overlooked by a Spanish tower etc... Famous prison in use from the 19th century and which, since falling into disuse, has been restored to become the future museum of agriculture and ethnology of Sarrabus. To the south, the coast around Capo Ferrato is also very beautiful, with its basalt rocks, its little white sandy coves and its pine trees.

Villasimius, the largest sea-side resort on the South-east coast, with its national, under-water park. The road, which winds North-east towards Jerzu is one of the most picturesque in Sardinia and is responsible for taking the famous Sardinian wine, the “Cannonau”, to the capital.

FORMALITIES : Valid identity card or passport (even for babies), to be presented at port or airport

HEALTH : Before leaving, remember to obtain the E111 social security form which ensures cover by the social security abroad.

Car an absolute necessity - Sardinia does not have a very effective system of public transport !

Extra information

The fragility of the Italian system of energy is a reality in Sardinia. The electricity board norms are only 300 megawatts and as a result of this, it is not possible, for example, to use two electrical appliances at the same time.

As Italy is not equipped with nuclear energy, the risk of a power-cut or of a black-out linked partly to the hot climate, might inconvenience you.

We just wish to inform you of this potential inconvenience, which is beyond our control.

How to get to the resort

From Cagliari : take the SS 554 (Cagliari ring road) direction Villasimius, then exit direction Muravera and take the SS 125. Turn right to take the 4-lane fast road direction Villassimius, then exit at Muravera-Villaputzu. Go through the village of Villaputzu , coming out of the village, turn right and follow the sign indicating « Porto Corallo» then indications for Corallo Vacanze. The agency Corallo Vacanze is situated at the first car park on the left as you enter the village, go up the steps at the foot of the tree.

From Porto Torres : take direction Sassari, SS 131 road, then continue direction Cagliari. At the entrance to Cagliari take the road SS 554 (Cagliari ring road), direction Villasimius then exit direction Muravera and take the SS 125. Turn right to take the 4-lane fast road direction Villassimius, then exit at Muravera-Villaputzu. Go through the village of Villaputzu, coming out of the village, turn right and follow the sign indicating «Porto Corallo» then indications for Corallo Vacanze. From Olbia : take the SS 131 direction Nuoro/Cagliari. On entering Nuoro take the direction Tortoli. Take the road n° 389 to Lanusei, on leaving Lanusei follow the indications to the road SS 125, once you arrive on the 125 turn right direction Cagliari, after about 40 Km exit at Muravera- Villaputzu. Go through the village of Villaputzu, coming out of the village, turn right and follow the sign indicating «Porto Corallo» then indications for Corallo Vacanze.
